Find Jesus Today

Date: 10th July 2023

Are you depressed or worried about your salvation; not sure you are a child of God. Are you asking yourself whether you will make it to heaven? Are you looking for a way back to God? Do you want to experience the love and glory of God on your life? If the answer is yes; then it is time for you to find and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior. Jesus Christ is always ready to receive you into his arms and welcome you into his presence. Jesus Christ walked on planet earth to show God's love for mankind. God did not create us to suffer. It is our own choices and decisions that cause our suffering. That is, it is our disobedient and rebellious nature that cause our suffering.

The separation (The fall of man)

God created human beings holy and perfect. He prepared a perfect place on earth for human being called Eden – the garden of the Lord. God placed human being there to have authority over all the things He (God) had created and to work the earth (Genesis 1:28). God gave human beings one simple instruction to follow. God said to human beings “you are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17). However, with influence of the serpent, human beings disobeyed the commandment of God and eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This act is the genesis of the suffering of mankind. From that time on, human beings have become evil and all their ways are sinful. God cast human beings out of the Garden of Eden to prevent human beings from having access to the tree of life. Romans 3:23 state “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”: Sin drives human beings away from God (Creator) and makes us loss the glory that we had. For instance: If you sin against someone and you are caught, you feel the guilt and shame. This situation affects the relationship you had with the person, that is, you will find it difficult to associate with the person due to guilt and shame. A similar situation happens when you sin against God. Sin makes it difficult for human beings to associate with God. This situation causes mankind to move from the presence of God. An example is found in the book of Genesis 4:13-14 when Cain killed his brother, he moved away from the presence of God.

How do I find Jesus Christ?

The Lord Jesus Christ is closer to you more than your shadow. In darkness, even your own shadow leaves. But the Lord Jesus Christ is always there waiting for you to allow him in. In the book of Revelation 3:20 Jesus told the church at Laodicea that “he stands at the door and knock, if they hears his voice and open the door, he will come in and dine with them and they with him. All you need to do is to believe, have faith in Jesus Christ. Then invite him (Jesus Christ) into your life. Below this section is the process to follow to be saved. The process is usually referred to as the salvation process.

Salvation process

Salvation in Christianity is defined as a free gift from God that involves the redemption of the whole person from the power, control and influence of sin into a fruitful and fulfilling life. It is given to people who accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His (Jesus Christ) own blood has obtain eternal redemption for all who believe in him or believe in his name (John 1:12). Salvation is important for human beings because, it offers the believer with a means to return back to their creator. To be saved you have to follow the salvation process. The salvation process is a cycle that a person follows to find Jesus Christ (get saved). Below are the stages in the salvation process:

  1. Accept you are a sinner
  2. Believe the Lord Jesus Christ has the power to save you
  3. Confess your sins to the Lord Jesus Christ
  4. Commit your life to Jesus
  5. Holy Living

1. Accept you are a sinner

The first step is to admit your guilt as a sinner. Sin is rebellion against God. That is yielding to the powers of evil rather than God. In simple terms it is the act of disobeying the Commandment of God. This stage is accepting that you have sinned against God by not following His commandment. Right from infancy to adulthood our ways are evil. The evil thought we have about our neighbor; the things we say to hurt somebody's feelings (spouse); greed, envy, pride, not loving one another, just to list a few. We are all victims of one or more sins. In this instance we are not talking about the sins of Adam and Eve but your sin. Accept that you have fallen from the grace and glory of God and as such you have to pay for your sin (Roman 6:23 _ for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus).

Sin has negative impact on you. It has the following effect on a person

  • Self Destruction: can damage your reputation and your happy life. Eg: having multiple sexual partners can make you acquire a sexual transmitted disease.
  • Sin separate us from the presence and the love of God hence resulting in the departure of the glory of the Lord from the person (Romans 6:23)
  • Sin begets more Sins: Each time you do a sinful act, it makes it easier for you to do other sin to cover the previous one. Eg: if you steal and are asked, you have to lie to protect your image.

After identifying your sin you have to repent from your sins. Repentance is the genuine turning away from sin toward God. Repentance is different from remorse – which is feeling sorry for doing something wrong. Repentance is beyond that, it is not just feeling sorry for your sin but it is taking the bold step to stop sinning. We have all sinned, the apostle John wrote in 1 John 1:8 “if we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us”. Accepting your sin is the first and an important step in the salvation process. It serves as the basis for your repentance.

2. Believe the Lord Jesus Christ has the power to save you

The second step is to have faith and believe in Jesus Christ; to know that you have no power to save yourself. Only the Lord Jesus Christ has the power to save you. The bible makes us understand that the only means of reconciliation with God is through faith in Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God who was sent into the world to save humans from sin and death (John 3:14-17). He now seats at the right hand of God the father interceding for us. (Romans 8:34). It is he (Jesus Christ) who by His death on the cross of Calvary has bought and delivered us.

3. Confess your sins to the Lord Jesus Christ

The third step is to bring all your sins before GOD and asking GOD to forgive all your sins. You will have to let go all sins, idols, pride or any other thing you have put your trust in. Than openly confess Christ as your LORD and SAVIOUR. (1 John 1:9 – If you confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and will cleanses us from all unrighteousness)

4. Commit your life to Jesus

The fourth stage is to hand over your whole life to Jesus Christ. One has to dedicate his/her life to Christ. You must cast all cares and burden on him (Matthew 11:28-30). Commit your heart, mind, soul and body into his hands as your Lord and master and depend on him for your daily needs (Matthew 6:11).

5. Holy Living

After going through the process, the next step to take is for you to lead a life that is acceptable to God (Matthew 5:48). One must use the Holy Bible to guide his/her life. This can be done by the following means:

  1. Attending Sunday services, Bible studies and Prayer Meeting
  2. Have Personal and Family Devotion

Apostle Paul told the Philippians to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. We must not only obey the laws of God when we are in the presence of a pastor or person we respect but must do it because we are doing it for the Lord Jesus Christ who is always with us and in us. In some instance you will makes some mistakes, you do not give up. Get up clean yourself and move forward in the faith; this is why we said earlier that, the salvation process is a cycle. Thus, when you fall at you get up and ask for forgiveness. This should not serve as a license for you to constantly sin (Romans 6:1-10). Make every effort to practice godly life everywhere you go. Whether people are watching or not; remember it all about the Lord Jesus Christ. Always remember it is by grace (unmerited favor) you have been saved and not your work. Finally pray this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus I believe with my heart that I have sinned against you and deserve to pay for my sins. I believe you came to die in my place for my sins. Dear Lord Jesus, please forgive me for all the sins have done. Dear Lord, I open the door to my life and invite you in, come in and make my heart your home. Help me to love myself and others. Help me to always do what is right. Guide and protect me all my life. Deliver me from all evil and be my Lord and savior AMEN.

Now that you have invited Jesus into your life you will need to study the bible to know more about that faith you are in. You can easily find a copy of the Holy Bible at the book store in your community or download a bible app or you can find one on this site. Christianity is a beautiful religion. Conclusion

The world will be a better place if we all love and care for one another. This is what the Lord Jesus Christ requires from us (John 13:34-35). Stay blessed Shalom.
